Leslie Dala is the Music Director of the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Associate Conductor and Chorus Director with Vancouver Opera and the Music Director of the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra. Last year, he stepped down as Music Director of the Prince George Symphony, which he led for eight years and was the longest serving conductor in the organization’s 40 year history. A member of the Vancouver Opera music staff since 1996, he recently conducted their production of La Boheme, in addition toWest Side Story, Rigoletto and The Threepenny Opera, and he has assisted on over 50 mainstage productions and has adapted numerous works for the VOIS program. Later this season, he will conduct Pacific Opera Victoria’s production of Britten’s Albert Herring in February 2013 and Vancouver Opera’s production of The Magic Flute in March 2013.

Leslie has been a member of the music staff at L’Opera National du Rhin, the Santa Fe Opera, the Canadian Opera Company, the Banff Centre and he has been a frequent guest conductor with the UBC Opera Ensemble. Recent performances with the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Vancouver Symphony include Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation, Berlioz’s The Damnation of Faust and this December the VBC will present the Canadian premiere of John Adams Nativity Oratorio, El Nino. This past summer, Leslie conducted the Opening Night Gala for MusicFest Vancouver as well as Puccini’s Suor Angelica for the COSI program in Sulmona, Italy. Next spring he will travel to China on tour with Soundstreams, Canada and to the Czech Republic with the UBC Opera Ensemble for performances of Carmen.
